LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Walt Disney World announced on Friday a new “Frozen” attraction will be built at the Norway Pavilion in Epcot.

“I’m pleased to say that we’re starting construction at Walt Disney World Resort on a brand new “Frozen” attraction at the Norway Pavilion in Epcot. The new attraction, which replaces Maelstrom, will take our guests to Arendelle and immerse them in many of their favorite moments and music from the film,” said Tom Staggs, Chariman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

Maelstrom was a boat ride attraction in the Norway pavilion that featured boats patterened after Vikings ships.

No other details about the new ride were revealed on Friday, however rumors have suggested the new ride will open sometime in the next 12-18 months.

“The pavilion will also include a royal greeting location where Anna and Elsa can meet our guests. We think these “Frozen” elements are great compliments to the Norway Pavilion, which showcases the country and region that inspired the film.”

The characters from Frozen will also be featured at Magic Kingdom, where Else will “transform Cinderella Castle into an ice palace every night” beginning in early November.

The “Frozen Summer Fun LIVE!” event that has been held at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this summer has also been extended.
