ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Highway Patrol has identified the people killed in an accident on Highway 14 in Rockingham County on Wednesday.

Three people, including a 3-year-old boy, were killed.

The wreck happened at about 11 a.m. between Broadleaf Road and Bethlehem Church Road, about halfway between Eden and Reidsville.

Highway Patrol said a 1998 Ford Contour with two adult females and a child inside went left of center and collided with a three-axle International straight truck. All three occupants of the car died from injuries sustained. The driver of the truck was not injured.

Officials said the child was taken to a nearby hospital and airlifted to the Wake Forest Baptist Hospital but later died.

The two deceased adults have been identified by Highway Patrol as Deloras Gilley Willoughby, 68, of Eden, and Beth Yvonne Dickens, 24, of Eden.

Highway Patrol said the relationship between the three deceased people is great-grandmother, granddaughter and great-grandson. Highway Patrol did not release the name of the child.

The driver of the truck will not be charged.

Highway Patrol said neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the crash.

Highway 14 was closed for approximately four hours and has since reopened.
