TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. – A woman was run over while pumping gas at a station north of Charlotte, and it was caught on camera, according to WSOC.

The pickup truck can be seen on video as it slams into the car, sending it across the parking lot and the driver to the pavement.

The driver of the truck is now facing charges of driving while impaired and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

"I don't think he even realized what happened,” said Taylorsville Police Chief Dennis James.

The chief said the driver, Bobby Simmons, was under the influence of pain pills when the crash happened.

"It was a miracle. I didn't expect to find her,” said Brenda Roope, the victim’s sister-in-law.

Roope said she the victim was not seriously injured and expects to make a full recovery.

"The only thing she can remember is being on the ground and seeing those wheels coming at her,” Roope said. “Huge wheels, she says"

Alexander County Magistrate Jonathan Watts saw the crash, and with the help of two other men, kept Simmons from running off.

Watts and the others held Simmons until police arrived, but don't call then heroes.

"Not a hero. Don't need to be considered that,” Watts said. “Just doing what I thought was the right thing to do."
