CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A North Carolina woman is accused of stealing an ambulance from a hospital because she needed a ride, according to WCNC.
Autumn Marie Prieschl, 36, of Charlotte, was allegedly caught by security cameras driving off in an ambulance from Carolinas Medical Center at about 10 p.m. Thursday.
Authorities said drugs were not involved and she simply needed a ride. The suspect has been charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and trespassing.
The ambulance was empty and had no patients inside, according to officials. All of the ambulances have GPS trackers, so police knew where it was.
A MEDIC spokesman said crews often leave the keys in their trucks and leave them running so they can quickly respond to an emergency.
