NC woman accused of shooting boyfriend, setting fire found dead

PELHAM, N.C. — Deputies said a woman accused of shooting her boyfriend and setting their house on fire was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Vestor Joe Moore, 66, was found inside a home engulfed in flames at 889 Jennings Blackwell Road in Pelham around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Caswell County deputies.

Deputies said Moore was unresponsive and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officials said he was pronounced dead after being taken to Danville Regional Medical Center.

Deputies said Cheryl E. Moore was identified by investigators as a possible suspect in the case. Moore was the alleged girlfriend of the victim and lived with him at the address, deputies said.

Deputies said Cheryl Moore was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Wednesday in Brunswick County, Va.

Authorities said Cheryl Moore’s body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke Virginia for an autopsy.

Officials said Vestor Moore’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

The investigation is ongoing.
