SALISBURY, N.C. — A North Carolina veteran has a new service dog after his old one was run over in a hit-and-run, according to WCNC.

A veteran who wanted to remain anonymous has donated a 9-week-old German Shepherd to Andy Eury, a Marine in Salisbury.

A driver run over Eury’s old service dog Briggs and then fled the scene on Monday night. The dog helped soothe the Marine’s PTSD.

“Yeah, he has already made me laugh. It’s weird though, he can smell Briggs. Honestly it’s like Briggs is still here and its painful, yet soothing,” Eury said, according to WCNC.
