NC teen detained for threatening to kill President Barack Obama

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — A 14-year-old North Carolina boy has been charged after allegedly threatening to kill the president during a trip to Mooresville last week.

The Charlotte Observer reported that the Mooresville Middle School student allegedly tweeted that he would shoot President Barack Obama is he saw him at the school.

President Obama made a speech on June 6 at Mooresville Middle School about increasing high-speed internet in schools.

Mooresville police said the teenager has been charged with communicating threats and will have to appear in court.

Officials said the suspect was taken into custody and detained at a juvenile facility during President Obama’s visit. He has since been released.

The suspect’s name has not been released due to his age. The Secret Service is reportedly still investigating.
