NC teen charged with murdering grandmother, stabbing 4-year-old brother

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham teenager is facing murder and attempted murder charges in connection with the stabbings of his grandmother and 4-year-old brother, according to WTVD.

Around 5 a.m. Wednesday, authorities were called to an apartment in the 3400 block of Glasson Street about a “cardiac arrest,” but when officers arrived, they found 62-year-old Carolyn Hemingway with fatal stab wounds.

Her 4-year-old grandson was also seriously injured and rushed to Duke University Hospital. His condition is not known at this time.

Police later arrested 17-year-old Treyvon Evans, the boy’s brother, and charged him with murder and attempted murder. He is currently being held without bond.

Authorities said the incident stemmed from an argument at the apartment the three shared.
