BOONE, N.C. — Deputies have arrested a Watauga County Schools teacher who is accused of sexual activity with students.

According to the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified of the alleged sexual activity on July 23. The alleged incidents occurred between 1998 and 2000 and against between 2004 and 2006.

The office’s Criminal Investigation Unit arrested Amy Tilley Bower, 45, of Vilas, as a result of an investigation, deputies said Wednesday.

Bower is charged with two counts of sexual activity wit a student and two counts of indecent liberties with a child.

The suspect was jailed under a $50,000 secured bond. She has a court date set for Sept. 17.
