NC rescue dog found in Virginia after van wreck; gets home

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – A dog rescued from death row now has a North Carolina home after surviving a car crash and 24 days lost in Virginia.

The Rocky Mount Telegram reported that Felix is a beagle-German shepherd mix rescued from the Nash County Animal Shelter.

Felix was headed to a rescue group in Vermont after staying with Amy Woodworth of Rocky Mount during treatment for heartworm. Authorities said their van crashed on Interstate 95 in Emporia, Va., and Felix was ejected.

Officials said a network of people in North Carolina and Virginia worked together to search for Felix. The dog was found last week at an apartment complex in Emporia.

Authorities said the dog now he has a home with Woodworth and her boyfriend’s family.
