UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina woman is seeking justice for her horse of 23 years, WCNC reports.

On July 4, Susanne Wright heard a popping noise and when she walked outside, she saw her horse Joby moving around.

“I heard a tap, tap, tap, and I knew that wasn’t fireworks,” she said. “I looked out the window and I saw my horse, Joby kind of prance around a little bit like he got stung.”

Joby died about 30 minutes later.

Officials believe the bullet came from a neighbor’s makeshift firing range and are working to determine if charges should be filed.

Wright set up a Facebook page to remember Joby.
