LELAND, N.C. — A North Carolina mother’s boyfriend has been charged with the murder of her 1-year-old child.

According to WECT, 33-year-old Angel Marie Ray, the mother of 1-year-old Brayden Ray, left the baby in the care of 35-year-old Albert David Morgan, her boyfriend, Jan. 8 while she was at a doctor’s appointment.

Authorities responded to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center where they determined Ray’s child was being treated for abuse injuries.

The child died from those injuries on Jan. 17.

Arrest warrants for Morgan said Brayden had multiple abrasions and contusions to the face, neck and body, along with head trauma resulting in bleeding in the brain.

Ray allegedly knew about about the abuse and aided in Morgan’s attempt to escape by providing false information to authorities.

Morgan was charged with first-degree murder. Ray was charged with felony accessory after the fact to child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

Morgan is being held with no bond. Ray is being held under a $750,000 bond.
