WASHINGTON, N.C. – A North Carolina mother has donated 38 gallons of breast milk to premature babies in need.

WITN reported that Kelli Russell from Washington, N.C., decided to make the donations after having an oversupply of breast milk after having her second child.

The mother said one ounce of breast milk can provide up to six feedings for a “micro-preemie tummy.” She’s donated 4,880 ounces of breast milk, or about 38 gallons.

“These little lives are our future, and my hopes are that more individuals know about milk donation,” Russell said.
