WAXHAW, N.C. — Deputies said the mayor of the North Carolina town of Waxhaw was arrested for drunk driving a second time early Monday morning.

The Enquier-Journal reported that Autumn Daune Gardner, 42, was stopped by Waxhaw Police on N.C. Highway 16 and Calistoga Street in Waxhaw.

The paper did not say how intoxicated she allegedly was or how fast she was driving.

Police told WCNC she was driving erratically and crossed the center line several times.

Gardner was arrested in 2008 on DWI charges in Lancaster, S.C. Those charges were later expunged from her record.

A 2008 article from the Charlotte Observer reported that Gardner was elected mayor of the Union County town in 2007 in her first run for elected office. Her term is slated to end in December 2015, according to the town’s website.
