INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — A North Carolina man is facing charges after deputies found him on a convenience store’s property with clown makeup on his face and a hatchet in his backpack.

At about 5:45 p.m. Sunday, the Union County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Wilco Convenience Store in Indian Trail in reference to a suspicious person, according to WSOC. When they got there, the man was gone.

“We have had a person come in dressed as a clown twice and he’s starting to scare my customer,” the clerk said.

Investigators searched the area and found 20-year-old Travis Quenton Pressley nearby, in possession of marijuana and a hatchet.

Pressley told officials he was planning to scare his friends.

He was arrested and charged with trespassing, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
