NC man shoots, kills burglar who broke into his home

LUMBERTON, N.C. — A North Carolina man shot and killed one of two burglars accused of breaking into his home.

Robesonian.com reported that 36-year-old Sanford Hardin found two masked men in his Red Springs home Monday morning.

One of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the homeowner in the shoulder. But the homeowner returned fire, killing one suspect. The second suspect ran off.

The dead suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Randal Dwight Hardin Jr., of Parkton. It is unclear if the suspect and victim are somehow related.

No arrests have been made. Police are still looking for the suspect that got away. The investigation is ongoing.
