ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina man is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 75-year-old grandmother, WBTV reports.
Curtis Wayne Trexler, 31, allegedly called 911 early Monday morning and told dispatch that “a person was down and needed immediate medical assistance.”
Once on scene, he told officers that his grandmother had fallen and he found her lying on the ground. But after a quick investigation, officials concluded that the incident was an assault and arrested him.
“This suspect has been in jail before, and his only visitor was his grandmother that he’s now accused of killing,” said Sheriff Kevin Auten, according to WBTV. “To me, that breaks my heart.”
Trexler is being held in the Rowan County Jail with no bond and has a July 19 court case.
