NC man accused of ransacking home, passing out in field with infant child

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities said a Lincolnton man was arrested after breaking into a neighbor’s home and then passing out in a nearby field with his 20-month-old child.

WSOC reported that 46-year-old Clarence Ray Barnette was arrested Friday morning after he allegedly broke into a residence in Lincoln County.

He has been accused of ransacking the home and removing a revolver, money and cordless telephones.

Barnette was charged with one felony count each of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and possession of stolen goods.

Authorities said he was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $17,500 secured bond.
