ATLANTA — A fraud suspect who Atlanta police identified through a Facebook selfie is now in custody, according to WTVD-TV.

Police say Tanya Monique Peel turned herself in Friday and was charged with felony theft by taking.

The 26-year-old Raleigh woman allegedly walked into several banks and left with more than $123,000 of money that did not belong to her.

Investigators said they watched video of Peel walking into bank after bank and withdrawing a few thousand dollars at a time.

Peel is accused of using her own name to set up a phony business account at a JP Morgan Chase bank branch in Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The suspect allegedly used that account to bilk more than $100,000 from a man in an identify theft operation.

“Selfies” on her Facebook page matched her with the suspect caught on surveillance video withdrawing the stolen $123,000, according to authorities.

The suspect remains in custody, jailed under a $50,000 bond. Her next court date is Aug. 8.
