RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina officials are getting extra time to figure out how to create a new one-stop online shop to help people buy affordable health insurance.

The Obama administration said Friday governors can have more time to submit an outline for an online health insurance marketplace. Washington will run the exchanges in states that are not ready or willing.

Governor-elect Pat McCrory and Gov. Beverly Perdue were busy Friday trying to sort out options.

North Carolina still needs to say by next Friday whether it will be setting up new health insurance markets under the Affordable Care Act.
