GREENSBORO, N.C. — The chancellor of North Carolina A&T State University said his school needs to take steps to compete with its peers, and that it has an important role to play in the economy.
The News & Record of Greensboro reported that A&T Chancellor Harold Martin told faculty and staff that community and business leaders expect A&T and other area colleges to take a proactive role in helping to create new jobs, and to improve the economic competitiveness of the region and state.
Martin said meeting those expectations will require making tough decisions, prioritizing, thinking more boldly and positively and acting more responsibly. He made the remarks during a meeting Friday.
Leaders at A&T last year approved a strategic plan that outlines specific benchmarks for the university’s progress.
