GREENSBORO, N.C. — NC A&T University police have increased foot patrol and presence around residence halls and parking lots following Sunday’s stabbing.

Emails to students and staff report 20-year-old Bruce Beckford, of Silver Springs, Md., was stabbed Sunday around 3 a.m. in Pride Hall parking lot.

Beckford is a junior forward basketball player for the Aggies.

Beckford was sent to Moses Cone Hospital where he underwent surgery and is now recovering. His injuries are not life threatening.

NC A&T sent the following statement addressing the incident and the increased safety patrol.

“The University Police Department is continuing its investigation of the stabbing that occurred on campus early Sunday morning.

“Our concern for the victim is focused on his recovery and his ability return to school to complete his studies. Any other considerations are secondary right now and will be addressed at the appropriate time.

“The University Police Department reminds the campus community to use good judgment in regard to where they go and whom they’re with, to be aware of their surroundings at all times and to call campus police to report any suspicious activity – 336-334-7675 or 911.”

The email to students and staff states campus police have identified possible suspect but no arrests have been made on the case.
