Boxing legend Muhammad Ali has been hospitalized, his family spokesman said in a statement Thursday.

He is being treated for a respiratory issue and is in fair condition, spokesman Bob Gunnell said.

“A brief hospital stay is expected,” the statement said.

Ali, 74, was last hospitalized in January 2015 for follow-up care after an infection.

His last public appearance came in April when he attended the Celebrity Fight Night charity event in Phoenix.
