Muggsy Bogues to speak at DCCC today

THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Former NBA star and Wake Forest University standout Muggsy Bogues will be speak at Davidson County Community College Wednesday morning.

The hour-long event is set to begin at 11 a.m. at college’s Conference Center at its Thomasville campus.

It is open to the public.

Bogues’ presentation, which is part of the college’s Campus Speaker Series, is titled “Succeed on Your Own Terms.”

At 5’3″ tall, Bogues led a successful NBA career playing for multiple franchises including the Washington Bullets, Charlotte Hornets, Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors.  Upon retirement, he ranked at No. 16 overall among all-time assist leaders in the league.

Since leaving the NBA, Bogues has worked in the real estate business and is a partner with Underwood Specialty Advertising.  He also served as head coach of the WNBA’s Charlotte Sting until 2007.  He has also worked with the Charlotte Bobcats as team ambassador and radio announcer.  He has hosted basketball clinics for more than two decades.
