MT. AIRY, N.C. — Friday is the voter registration deadline for Mount Airy residents wishing to cast ballots in the city primary on Oct. 8 and the general election on Nov. 5.
Anyone who has voted in recent elections will be automatically registered for the upcoming election season.
Those who are not registered must complete and deliver registration forms in person to the Surry County Board of Elections in Dobson by 5 p.m. Friday, which also can be postmarked on that date.
The primary will include three candidates for the South Ward seat on the Mount Airy Board of Commissioners, incumbent Steve Yokeley and a pair of challengers, Jerry A. Byrd and Jimmy D. Mitchell Jr.
