WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A mother and her 11-month-old son reported missing in Winston-Salem have been found and are both safe, according to police.

Angela Youngblood Vasquez and her 11-month-old son Jaime Florentino Vasquez Jr. were found uninjured in Oklahoma City, Okla., according to police.

Police said they responded to the missing persons report Sunday at a church at 2917 Waughtown St.

FOX8 talked to the baby’s father, Jaime Vasquez, Sr. shortly after police announced his son was found Monday.

Vasquez said he was incredibly relieved his only child was found safe.

“I received a phone call from police that they were found in Oklahoma City. I feel content, and I feel happy  that they are in safety.”
Speaking about his son, Vasquez added, “He is my life, I love him very much. And it means a lot.”

Vasquez said he’s disappointed that he still doesn’t know when he’ll see Jaime, Jr. again. He believes Angela is on her way to family in California, and he said police told him they can’t force her to come back to the Piedmont.

He said he was told he could get a lawyer to sort out custody rights.
