RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — First lady Michelle Obama is set to campaign for her husband’s re-election in Virginia.
Her first stop on a two-city campaign foray into the key battleground state is Thursday afternoon in downtown Richmond. Later in the day, she will speak to supporters at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg.
The first lady had been scheduled to speak at the university in July, but that appearance was canceled following the mass shooting in Colorado.
President Barack Obama is trying for a repeat of his performance in Virginia four years ago, when he became the first Democratic presidential candidate to carry the state in 44 years.
