JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — A Marine was killed in a motorcycle crash after authorities said his bike went off the road, hit a concrete curve and struck a guardrail.
The Jacksonville Daily News reported that it happened shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday on a highway in Jacksonville. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.
A highway patrol trooper estimated that the victim was traveling faster than 100 mph. He was reportedly ejected from the motorcycle due to the crash.
Firefighters and emergency workers responded to the scene of the wreck and had the scene cleared within about three hours, according to WITN.
