ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A man was arrested after police say he sexually assaulted a real estate agent in Salisbury Tuesday.
Police responded to a real estate company Tuesday afternoon after a female real estate agent said a man with a knife sexually assaulted her.
Officers said the victim was showing a house on Secret Garden Court to Brian Cooper, 49, when he started assaulting her.
The real estate agent said Cooper grabbed her around the neck and started choking her. She said he then pulled out a knife and told her if she did not do what he said he would kill her.
Cooper then sexually assaulted her, according to police.
After the assault, the victim said Cooper told her to take him to the other home he was supposed to see that day.
According to police, the victim told Cooper she needed to call her office so they would not think anything was wrong.
She said he threatened her not to tell anyone.
Police said she called the office and gave them a predetermined code word, which meant she was in distress.
Police say the victim then took Cooper to the home on Trantham Lane where he again showed a knife and again started assaulting the woman.
A company agent arrived and escorted Cooper back to the office while the victim called 911.
Cooper, of Jack Street in Granite Quarry, was later arrested at his home and charged with one count of attempted first degree rape, two counts of first degree sexual assault and one count of first degree kidnapping.
He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $1 million bond.
Cooper is scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday morning.
