LOS ANGELES — The man who admitted to using a sledgehammer to smash President-elect Donald Trump’s Walk of Fame star has been charged with vandalism.
James Otis, 52, faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison or a $10,000 fine in connection with the October 26 incident, according to CBS Los Angeles.
Otis originally intended to remove the star and auction it off to raise funds for the 11 women who accused Trump of inappropriately touching them.
The real estate mogul and Republican presidential candidate received the star, located at 6801 Hollywood Blvd. near the Dolby Theater, in 2007 for his work on NBC reality show “The Apprentice.”
Otis is set to be arraigned on Friday. He told police he would be happy to pay for the repairs.
