Man sought for threatening Alamance Co. sheriff on Burlington PD Facebook page

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police are seeking a Haw River man for allegedly threatening the sheriff on the Burlington Police Department Facebook page.

According to police, Derrick Kenneth Givens, 30, of Haw River, posted a threatening comment on May 29 specifically targeting Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson.

The threat was posted through an anonymous Facebook account, police said. Upon discovering the threat, the department removed it from Facebook and began an investigation into the matter.

Through the investigation officers identified Givens as the suspect. Warrants for communicating threats were obtained by the Burlington Police Department for the May 29 incident.
