LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — A man lost the tips of two fingers while riding the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Walt Disney World on Thursday.

Bo Jones of the Reedy Creek Fire Department told WKMG the victim was an adult male from the United Kingdom.

The man reportedly lost the tips of his ring and pinky fingers on his right hand.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he received treatment.

The ride was closed for several hours while park officials investigated the incident. The ride was deemed safe and reopened as of 5 p.m.

Disney officials told WKMG it’s unclear how the man’s fingers were injured.

Cast Members and signage inside Magic Kingdom Park advise guests to always keep their hands, arms, feet and legs inside the boat at all times.
