WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — An elderly man was killed after police said his car ran into a concrete bridge wall Tuesday night in Winston-Salem.

Rudolph Hall, 84, of Advance, died after police said the 2001 Lincoln he drove collided with the barrier on Peters Creek Parkway over Interstate 40 shortly before 10 p.m.

Hall was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital and later pronounced dead due to injuries. Police said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the single-vehicle car wreck.

The investigation is ongoing. Police said this has been Winston-Salem’s ninth fatality of 2012.
