STOKES COUNTY, N.C. — A man involved in a stand-off with authorities Sunday night turned himself in to the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday.

Deputies responded to a domestic violence situation at a home in Pine Hall at 7:30 p.m. Sunday when a person called 911 and hung up.

When deputies responded to the home they realized it was a domestic situation involving a couple.

A man, who has now been identified as Carlos Ballesteros, showed deputies a gun and told everyone to leave.

Deputies were able to rescue a woman from the home, but Ballesteros escaped out the back door.

The woman involved in the incident waited until Monday at 4:30 a.m. to tell authorities she knew her husband was headed toward the back door as she was being removed from the home.

Ballesteros was charged with assault on a female, false imprisonment and assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm.

His bond was set at $125,000.

Ballesteros is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 19.
