Man injured in King shooting

KING, N.C. — A man was injured during a shooting in King Wednesday morning.

King police officers were called to 121 Northridge Drive in King at about 9:50 a.m.

A man had been shot and was conscious and alert.

A second man was identified as the shooter and was immediately taken into custody. Following subsequent investigation, King Police charged Phillip Ward, 23, of 121 Northridge Drive, with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.  He was issued a $10,000 unsecured bond and released.

The gunshot victim was taken to a hospital in Winston-Salem. His condition is not known.

No other injuries were reported.
