Man in critical condition after 2nd shooting in 1 day in Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A man is in critical condition after a second shooting in Burlington on Monday, according to Sgt. R.B. Petty with Burlington police.

At 6:08 p.m., officers responded to the area of Springdale Apartments, located at 317 Caswell St., on a report of a gunshot victim.

Officers located 21-year-old Jalyn Ferguson, of Burlington, in the grass behind the apartment complex suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Ferguson was flown to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill to be treated for his injuries and is currently listed in critical condition, Petty said.

The shooting suspect has not been identified at this time.

At 2:41 p.m. Monday, another shooting was reported on Tillman Street. Officers responded and found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Alamance Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Burlington police have not said if they believe the two shootings are related.
