Man hospitalized after being stabbed in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being stabbed overnight in Greensboro.

Police responded to an apartment at 2710 Patio Place just after midnight Tuesday, where they found a man who had been stabbed in his back.

The suspect was apprehended a short time later and identified as 33-year-old Gregory A. Cummings of Greensboro.

He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Officials say that the victim and suspect knew each other and that this incident was not a random act.

The victim is at the hospital and expected to survive.

The scene of the stabbing is the same apartment complex where a 64-year-old man was murdered last week.

Officials have not said if the two incidents are related.
