Man hit by train in Kernersville

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — A man was hit by a train in Kernersville on Wednesday, according to police.

Kernersville police came to Railroad Street and Cherry Street at 9:29 a.m. after a report of a pedestrian struck by a train.

The person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and is being treated at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Officers determined the person was trespassing by walking on the tracks and did not hear the train because they had headphones in playing music.

The identity of the person hit by the train has not been released.
