ASHEBORO, N.C.– A toddler and a man are dead after a collision in Asheboro, according to police.

Capt. Jim Smith with the Asheboro Police Department says the accident occurred shortly after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, when a 2009 Nissan van that was traveling southeast on Hub Morris Road went off the right side of the road.  The van traveled about 98 feet on the shoulder of the road before returning to the roadway and crossing the center line, police said.

When the van crossed the center line, it collided head-on with a 2006 Jeep.

Police say the force of the collision ejected Joseph Cresie III, 43, from the van.  He died from his injuries.

Farrah Hayden, 1, a passenger in the Jeep, died from her injuries, police said.

No charges will be filed.
