Burlington man charged with having sexual contact with minor

ASHEBORO, N.C. — A Burlington man faces charges in Randolph County in connection with alleged sexual activity involving a minor.

On Thursday, Steven Edward Long of 2511 Elderwood Lane, Burlington, was arrested for numerous counts of sexual activity with a minor.

A search warrant was served at the home on Elderwood Lane where several computers and other items were seized along with two vehicles he allegedly used in the commission of the sexual acts, according to police.

Long faces three counts of statutory rape/sex offenses with a victim more than 6 years younger than the suspect, one count of sexual exploitation of a minor and other related charges.

Randolph County Sheriff’s Office investigators that are assigned to The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force are still investigating the case.

Long is being held in the Randolph County Jail under a $750,000 secured bond.
