DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Lexington man was arrested Monday when a handgun was found inside his coat at the Davidson County Courthouse.
Michael Tyrone Mayo Jr., 27, of 403 Tussey St., was charged with possession of a weapon on state property/courthouse and carrying a concealed weapon.
He was also served a warrant for arrest for failure to appear in court.
According to The-Dispatch, Mayo was stopped at the courthouse security checkpoint when deputies found a .380 caliber handgun in his coat. The gun was detected with the X-ray machine.
Mayo was placed in the Davidson County Detention Center under a $6,500 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Lexington District Court on April 1.
