GALAX, Va. — The man accused of killing 28-year-old Alyssa Ann Kenny and her daughter, 21-month-old Anastasia Leighann Alley, now faces federal charges.

Richard Denny Nofsinger Jr., 36, of Galax, was arrested on May 17 in connection with the mother and daughter’s deaths and charged with first-degree murder.

Nofsinger now faces federal rape and child pornography charges.

In a criminal complaint obtained by WDBJ, a United States Secret Service agent says Nofsinger was arrested for the “murder and rape of both Alyssa Ann Kenny and her young daughter.”

Investigators found eight sexually explicit videos involving an infant girl, the complaint said.

The complaint said Nofsinger can be seen in at least three of the videos sexually abusing an infant girl while recording the incident.

Some items seen in the videos have been obtained as evidence, WDBJ reports.

The mother and daughter were found dead inside their home on Laurel Street in Galax on March 10.
