WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A man accused of fatally hitting another man with his car earlier this year has been charged with murder.

Dequan Jujuan Webb, 22, was charged Thursday with murder in connection to the death of 68-year-old Jackie Wayne Cross, according to Winston-Salem police.

Winston-Salem police were called to a home at 308 E. Sprague St. shortly after midnight March 30 in reference to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

The victim was found lying in the front yard of that address, suffering from severe, life-threatening injuries.

Emergency personnel took the victim to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he died about three hours later.

Investigators said Cross was standing on or near the sidewalk in front of his home when he was struck.

Police have charged the suspect with murder, accusing him of intentionally hitting the victim and leaving the scene.

Webb was arrested at his home and charged Thursday and is being held in the Forsyth County Detention Center. A bond and court date has yet to be determined.
