A low-magnitude earthquake struck South Carolina Wednesday morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed a 1.4-magnitude quake occurred roughly 9 kilometers southwest of Winnsboro Mills.

The area impacted is north of Columbia and northeast of Lake Murray.
