HIGH POINT, N.C. — Linda Hardison is a happy woman. The home she’s lived in since the 1960s got some much needed upgrades: her back porch was fixed, she had some minor plumbing issues handled and a tree leaning on her home was cut down.
Hardison is one of several homeowners selected to participate in a program called Operation Inasmuch. This program is a first for the city of High Point.
About 150 volunteers working with Community Housing Solutions, Housing Consultants Group and The City of High Point in the Southside Neighborhood participated in the big revitalization project on the city’s Southside Saturday.
It’s funded by the city and then executed by non-profits, private contractors and volunteers. Operation Inasmuch is found in other cities across the country.
Workers repaired 11 homes for 11 low-income families in the community all within ½ mile of each other.
Organizers look forward to helping more families in need later on in the year.
