GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Plans for the old Pilot Life Insurance property off High Point Road could include lofts inside the old buildings, one and two story homes behind the former headquarters and retail stores.
Kisco Senior Living won unanimous approval from the Greensboro Zoning Commission Monday. Now the plans will move forward for a public hearing in April.
Kisco said it had worked extensively with the Sedgefield community to ensure certain requirements were met. Those include how far away trash dumpsters will be from neighboring properties and will limit the size of buildings on the 131 acres to two story buildings.
Henry Isaacson, a lawyer for Kisco, said the intent is to not change the landscape of the property with the primary view still being the old buildings that used to house Pilot Live Insurance.
The property was bought by Kisco eight years ago but development plans stalled with the economy.
Now that work is underway for a High Point Road and Interstate 73 interchange, plans for redevelopment are moving forward.
