MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A loaded gun was found in the toy aisle of a Target store in Myrtle Beach, according to a report from WMBF.

The gun was found in “plain view,” on top of a superhero Playskool toy box. A loss prevention worker found the loaded gun on Friday night.

The fact that it was found in an aisle geared toward children makes some shoppers feel this was no accident.

According to the police report, a suspicious male walked up and down the toy aisle on Friday night, including the aisle where the gun was found. Target will be providing the surveillance video to police as they continue their investigation.

Senior Specialist of Target’s Public Relations Department, Evan Lapiska, sent WMBF News the following statement:

“The safety and security of our team members and guests is a top priority for Target. We take these matters very seriously and we are partnering with local law enforcement on this incident. Because this matter is under active investigation, we are unable to share additional information.”

Editor’s note: The video provided by WMBF has a caption that states “Walmart store.” This is incorrect. As the story states, the incident happened at a Target store.
