Lexington teen charged with filing false police report over shooting

LEXINGTON, N.C.–A Lexington teenager has been charged with filing a false police report for claiming he was shot, and an adult faces charges involving the storage of a firearm, The Lexington Dispatch reports.

Davidson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Wake Forest Baptist Health — Lexington Medical Center on Sunday in regards to a shooting, according to the report. They took a report from Conley Owen, 17, of 204 Primrose Lane, that he was shot in the hand by an unknown man on the roadway near his home.

Upon further investigation, detectives allege they discovered that Owen had filed a false report and the gunshot wound was accidentally self-inflicted.
