LEXINGTON, N.C. — The president of Wake Forest Baptist Health — Lexington Medical Center will retire June 30 and join the North Carolina House of Representatives.

The Lexington Dispatch reported that Donny Lambeth has spent the last 40 years of his life dedicated to the Lexington Medical Center.

He announced his retirement March 2011 and does not face any opposition in District 75 in the General Election.

“I jumped at the opportunity to come down here,” Lambeth said, referring to his move from LMC, according to The Dispatch. “I knew what to do in terms of integration.”
