ASHEBORO, N.C. — A man and woman from Lexington have been arrested in connection with a break-in at an Asheboro church.

According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded to a report of an outbuilding break-in at the Amity Hills Baptist Church on U.S. Highway 64 West on Tuesday morning.

The deputy got a description of the suspects and their vehicle.  Shortly afterward, the deputy spotted the vehicle on U.S. 64.

Deputies say he stopped the vehicle and found stolen property and burglary tools inside.  The suspects, who were identified as 31-year-old Dan Edward Ray Tucker and 54-year-old Deloris Jane Alvarez, were arrested.

The suspects are charged with breaking and entering, felony larceny, possession of stolen goods, possession of burglary tools and resist, obstruct and delaying an officer.

Deputies say additional charges are pending as they believe the suspects may also be responsible for a break-in that occurred Tuesday morning in Staley.

The suspects are currently being held in the Randolph County Jail under $100,000 secured bonds.
